A brief history of Owl
Foxton Boat Services 1968 - 1988
In the late 60s Owl was bought by Phil Smith of Loughborough. He and the well-known boatman, Jack Monk, hired out Owl as an early pleasure boat. They were based at Foxton. Note Jack's name on the cabin side.

Soon afterwards Foxton Boat Services leased Owl from Phil Smith and hired it out.

Hirers would always have the services of a boatman like Jack. It was never self steer.
